![]() Greys Reels
Reels are made in different sizes and each size can accomodate up to a certan line rating, Fly lines are specifically designed 'tools' and are made to a 'weight' that matches a specific Fly rod 'Weight' so for example a #7 rated rod will require a #7 rated Flyline which will fit on a reel that will take enough 'backing' and the flyline to suitably fill the reel's capacity. So, a #2 weight flyline is much smaller and lighter than a #9 weight flyline so the #2 can be fitted to a small reel with less backing as it will be used on small fish that cannot take much line out but with the #9 flyline it requires a much larger capacity reel to hold 100yds of backing or more plus the 30yd flyline and the reel requires strong brakes/drag as the weight of the kit can handle fish of 20lbs + and the backing is required to allow the fish to 'run' and the brakes for the angler to get the fish back! and remember small fish can 'run' a long way too!
